Caring for Kenya is an international mission work that began in 1995. The organization was founded and is directed by Carl Burkybile, one of the Philo Road church’s shepherds. Carl is also the Director of Agriculture for Healing Hands International.
In the summer 2022, a small team made up of Illini for Christ college students and long-time supporters of Caring for Kenya conducted a mission trip. There they engaged in a number of ways, but here are a handful:
- Simple robotics were introduced to a class of young students.
- Eyeglasses were handed out to elderly individuals.
- Meals and time together were shared.
- Great hospitality was shown by Kenyan brothers and sisters.
- The good news of Jesus was shared in and celebrated.
This is an opportunity that is encouraged at Philo Road church, and there are always opportunities to serve our communities, near and far, with Illini for Christ.
We are happy to hear about the good experiences that our Illini for Christ students had this year, and hope to hear the same next year!
